The End!

I am relieved that I got the 23 Things finished with a little time to spare. I was so far behind at one point I don't think I posted anything for almost 2 months. I was posting regularly to Ask Away though so blogging has been easy. I think I will start using wikis more now that we have the as yet unnamed Loudoun wiki under development. So yes I did learn a lot during this time. I was frustrated at times and from what I heard at Admin so were others but I learned by doing.
In general I think the best thing about this program is how staff has already started using it in work processes. Already many improvements/changes have been made in how we do things. I am excited about having Helene for Staff Development Day especially since doing this program in LCPL was my idea. Cindy was easy to convince however and thanks to Helen the content was there.
Yes I would definitely participate in a future discovery program. It was fun and exciting to discover what the younger generation already knows and that we "oldies" can do it too!

PBWiki

At first I couldn't find Cindy's list but the next time I went to the site it was there. Not sure what happened. Anyway I added my blog and added my favorite vacation spot. I feel really pressured to finish this before the holiday. Almost done. Looking forward to the Loudoun wiki or whatever it ends up being called. That will be really fun and as Brett says "added value" to what we already offer.

You Tube

I hopped around a lot on You Tube looking for things that interested me. I think I am of the generation that appreciates professional film making. This is pretty good though and a good way to share travel experiences. Nothing is like the real thing with the vivid and intense colors.

Podcasts

I subscribed to the NPR Books podcast. If I listen to this at my desk I get very involved and forget what I am doing. http://www.npr.org/rss/podcast.php?id=1032

Audiobooks

Capcon has a deal with Net Library for downloadable audio that I am thinking about adding. It will cause some confusion because unlike RB titles the others are 2 week circ and one book, one user. But a good deal and lots of good titles. Don't forget about Overdrive downloadable also.Lots of good titles there also.

Overdrive is one book, one user also and a mix of ebook and eaudio. Use those players!!

Web 2.0 awards

I use Craig's List along with millions of others. I can find anything there. It's ugly but it works and I'm used to it. Not much else to say except that when you try to catch up on 9 or 10 exercises in one day you get zoned out.

ZOHO

This reminds me of Zorro.  This is probably pretty easy once you get used to it.  Lots of symbols and smile it makes me happy

Wikis

So PWPL is in the game. I think a book related wiki would be a big hit here. I like to scan the library success wiki when I think of it. Some good stuf there.

Library 2.0

The whole future of libraries thing is a big deal I think. I had a conversation with a top staffer from OCLC at CIL and she acknowledged that they don't know what their role is anymore. I have predicted for years that cataloging and reference as we know it now won't be there. Sue gets upset with me. ILS vendors are really in trouble I think. It is really about customer service that requires constant and purposeful change. This librarian does not think we can survive if we create policies and procedures that impede users’ access to the library even in the name of identity protection.

Technorati

It seems like I did this before. It's all running together. I created an account and watch list. I don't know why when I search tags nothing comes up tagged L2LCPL since Steph tagged the post. Results on different searches are definitely different which drives librarians crazy but goes to show we shouldn't worry about it. No one else does! Love the popular page. I love short cuts. Everything I need is there. Babysitting for most popular movie tomorrow.

Del.icio.us

I have been away from this for almost 3 months so it is like learning everything all over again. Except of course blogs---lots of practice with Ask Away. This thing is fun and I will install the buttons at home. Created an account and imported favorites. Need to move on and catch up.
